A poignant and moving story of the life of Ramon Sampedro. Ramon was a ship mechanic, who was paralyzed neck-down in a swimming accident. Now a quadriplegic, he is looked after by his family (father, brother, sister-in-law and nephew).

While he was energetic and ebullient before his accident, his condition distresses him extremely. He dreams of flying across the sea, while confined to his bed. The old vigour and sparkle are still evident as many women literally fight over the right to attend to him.

He is too helpless to even take his own life. Euthanasia in Spain is illegal, and for the past 28 years, Ramon has been fighting the courts for the right to die.

A beautifully done movie chronicling the life story of an exceedingly brave man, and his extraordinary fight.
